About Us

Welcome to Cultural Cooks!

In this blog, you have the opportunity to learn how to make Colombia, Italian, Jamaican and Puerto Rican food. Learn about typical and cultural dishes from our countries, learn a little bit about the authors and their stories.

Lisa Guarnaccio- I have had a passion for food for many years which includes many types of food, especially Italian. I have had a catering business on the side before I decided to venture out and go back to school. My passion now for food exists for family and friends now.

Melanie Hincapie- A Colombian American who loves to cook her cultural food. When she is not cooking she is a student who is majoring in Phycology and has two minors one in English writing and the other in American Sign Language. Melanie uses her cooking skills at work when cooking with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Seanette Martin- I was never into cooking until I moved in on my own and my passion for cooking has grown. There are days when I just want to go to the supermarket for hours and start trying new recipes. I am blessed to be American but my family is from Jamaica so it's like the best of both worlds. Lately, I have been trying Jamaican dishes and I simply love it. I hope to continue with my cooking and get better with my Jamaican restaurant maybe one day I can sell platters.

Leighann Soto- I come from the Puerto Rican culture. As a child, I always admired my grandmothers cooking. I always used to watch her, and hoped one day to be half the cook she is. When I was a teenager I would call her for some recipes. When she came to my house last year she told me she enjoyed my cooking which is very rare for her to give credit to someone else other than herself. she usually does not eat other peoples food, so I feel I succeeded.
